**Definition:** The function MODS is used to modify a situation (mostly an action) and to generate a new modified situation by means of a specifier.\\ The function MODS is mainly used to express **gradations** of the intensity or extent of situations.\\ e.g. //"A slight heating of the material has already caused small fissures."//\\ 

The function MODS can also be used to express certain **quantitative** modifications by distance.\\ e.g. //"100-m run"//\\ The construction of terms with MODS expresses that the newly generated action has a **different** conceptual quality than the original.  //"100-m run"// describes a special concept in sports.
