Dear participants (both teachers and students)!

The school starts in less than a week! The web page has been updated with a few new pieces of information, which you of course may have overlooked.

So, here are a few pointers:

GUIDED TOUR (covered by the event budget, so you will not pay for it)

Wednesday 14:30, see https://wiki.ufal.ms.mff.cuni.cz/_media/guided_tour.pdf

SOCIAL DINNER (covered by the event budget, so you will not pay for it)

Thursday 19:00, see https://wiki.ufal.ms.mff.cuni.cz/_media/social_dinner.pdf

LUNCHES (are NOT covered, you need to pay for them from your sources)

A list of suggested restaurants near (or at) the venue: https://wiki.ufal.ms.mff.cuni.cz/_media/restaurants.pdf

FREE TIME

Have a look at a short list of our tips for your free time: https://wiki.ufal.ms.mff.cuni.cz/_media/cultural_tips.pdf

You do not need to print out any of the above, as they will be included in your “conference” bags.

HOW TO GET HERE

See https://ufal.mff.cuni.cz/textlink-ts2/venue and https://ufal.mff.cuni.cz/textlink-ts2/local-info. When you enter the building, follow the signs that we will prepare for you. They should lead you to the fourth floor. Once you reach the fourth floor (walking up the stairs or using the elevators hidden behind the stairs), turn right and go to the end of the corridor (this is the north wing where coffee breaks will take place); at the end of the corridor, turn left and go through the wooden door. You will enter the west wing where you shall find the registration desk.

If you are late, have a look at the programme (https://ufal.mff.cuni.cz/textlink-ts2/programme#detailed) and go directly to the room where the given class (according to the programme) takes place. Room S1 is located in the west wing of the fourth floor - just walk by the registration deck, go to the end of the west wing and then go through the first and second wooden doors. Room SU2 (the lab) is located on the ground floor - when you enter the building, go through the second door (see below if it is locked) and turn left to another corridor - the SU2 lab is in the first door to your left. Room S3 (prof. Dressler's talk will take place there) is located on the third floor - from the elevator (or stairs), go to the right; S3 is in the second or third door on your right (depending on whether you count the door leading to the restrooms or not).
If the second door in the building is locked (the light on the lock is red) and nobody with a key is passing by, go to the reception at your right side and ask them to open the door for you. We will make sure that the door is unlocked at least 15 minutes before and 15 minutes after the start of each block of presentations.

And some more info:

SELF-PRESENTATION SLIDES (this applies only to the students)

Thank you for your self-presentation slides - please prepare approx. 60 - 90 seconds “talk” that would accompany your slide on the dedicated time on Monday (approx. 9:45. - 10:45)

RESEARCH SPEED DATING

Wednesday, 11:15 - 12:45. Students will be divided to small groups (hopefully 3 in one group), each group will be accompanied by one teacher (henceforth the “hopefully”). Withing each group, students will take turn presenting their current work or plans for future, while the other members of the group may respond with their opinion or suggestions (approx. 10 minutes for each student, incl. the responses). After 30 minutes, the groups will be dissolved and students will regroup in entirely new groups (hopefully always at a different teacher with different other students). This regrouping will take place twice, i.e. through the whole time slot, each student should participate in 3 groups, thus presenting his work or plans three times, in total to 3 teachers and 6 students.

This is all for now. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Looking forward to seeing you all here!

Best regards,

Jiří
